We are about 670 students of pre-primary, primary and secondary.
The school is located 30 km south from Barcelona.
Our institution, which is run by a religious community, is in the village of Begues of about 6000 inhabitants that live out of their own business, of their fields, mostly vineyards and services. In our secondary education we teach Latin and also modern languages such as English and French. We are also working CLIL, therefore we teach Science, Biology, Citizenship and Human Rights, Ethics and Values and Maths in 4th year, in English, as far as secondary concerns, and PE, Music, Arts and Crafts and Design in Primary.
Infantile Education also has English lessons through Music and Art. On the one hand, one of our commitments is to have skillful students as regards foreign languages, that is why we organize different stays in the USA, the UK and Ireland all through the year, we have applied for European projects and our students sit for the Cambridge exams ESL and on the other hand, our students in 3rd and 4th year of secondary education receive lessons of personal education and Entrepreneurship that pretend to set the bases for their future development.
Lessons that will enhance and foster both students and teachers to widen their view of the future concerning jobs, social abilities challenging goals and achievements as citizens being part of global communities of Europe and of the world. However, our school also rises money for several charity events and it has its own NGO, running projects in South America.
Not only strong students might be successful, but some students in our school who have special needs as regards their acquisitions of knowledge and also some immigrants particularly from South America. Some of our students can’t afford a trip to another country to practice English and be in contact with other European teenagers, both through the new technologies and in the mobilities.
At the same time we will work tightly with the local government to promote any initiative of this type. For all mentioned above, we think that this project is a very good opportunity for all of us and our school will be a partner in this project.
