Istituto Comprensivo S. G. Bosco
The I.C. S.G. Bosco is a school rooted in the territory, but oriented towards a European vision of education, and points out on the develop of the european key competences of citizenship.
Next to various activities for the improvement of mathematics, the use of computer technology, the rediscovery of their own territory, of music and art studio, in recent years much attention has been given to the study of foreign languages, with particular attention on English.
We start with the study of English in kindergarten with the "Total Physical Response" method, then in the primary school we introduced a CLIL project of science since the third grade, and we go on with the CLIL of geography in the secondary school.
The school is an examination center for Trinity, and every year many of our students take ESOL exams in English. There are many activities on the eTwinning platform, which give the opportunity to our students to get in touch with other students abroad , in fact it’s not easy for our students to travel. The school offers many cultural occasions and pupils attend theatre performances in English and French since the fifth of primary school.
ICT is regularly used in teaching, integrated with other learning tools, and each class is provided with whiteboard. Besides our students study French, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Citizenship, Arts and Crafts, ICT, Music, many of our students practise a musical instruments among piano, flute, guitar and saxophone.
The school is divided in 7 buildings dislocated all through the town.
Our school is public and is the only school of compulsory education in the town, so we teach to all the children of our community, so we have all sort of students, excellent but also students with special needs, to all we give the same opportunity of growth.
In our classroom there are also students with different disabilities whith special teachers for them. In the latest years we are trying to introduce in the curriculum career guidance, because our students will face the problem of unemployment in our region and must be ready to find a job everywhere or to exploit the opportunity of their territory.
